and global success

Dave Liniger had a vision to create a real estate powerhouse where experienced and productive agents could keep more of their commissions and enjoy the freedom to run their businesses as they saw fit. This concept, known as the maximum-commission model, was revolutionary at the time. Instead of the traditional commission split, agents would contribute collectively to office expenses, allowing them to retain a larger portion of their earnings.

Despite initial skepticism and criticism, Dave and Gail Liniger, along with their core group of supporters, persevered and proved the naysayers wrong. In 1975, the network expanded outside Colorado when Dennis Curtin purchased a franchise in Kansas City, Missouri. Two years later, RE/MAX went international with the establishment of the first Canadian brokerage in Calgary, Alberta.

One of the most iconic symbols of RE/MAX is the hot air balloon, which made its maiden flight at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta in 1978. The balloon became the company's official logo a year later, symbolizing the brand's commitment to being "Above the Crowd".

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, RE/MAX experienced steady growth, with the agent count increasing every single month since its founding. The company reached significant milestones, such as the 5,000-agent mark in 1984, the 10,000-agent mark in 1986, and the 50,000-agent mark in 1998. RE/MAX also became the number one real estate company in Canada in 1987, a position it has held ever since.

International expansion continued in the 1990s, with the launch of RE/MAX Europe in 1995 and regional operations in Spain, Italy, Germany, and Israel. The company also expanded to Southern Africa, the Caribbean, Australia, and other regions.

In 1994, RE/MAX introduced the RE/MAX Satellite Network (RSN), the first and only satellite training system of its kind in real estate. This innovative system offered agents a wide variety of professional designation courses and access to the industry's best trainers.

Today, RE/MAX leads the real estate industry worldwide and continues its commitment to empowering agents and providing top-notch services.
